How to Vacuum Pool with Sand Filter
Though vacuuming a pool with sand filter is not really recommended but you still can do it in some cases. Just make sure that you set the filter in Waste mode when you are vacuuming a pool with sand filter.
Prepare these tools:
- Pool vacuum head
- Vacuum hose
- Telescopic pole
- Skim vac or vacuum plate

Clean Out the Pump
Once you get the tools assembled, you can start the process by cleaning out the pump first.
- Turn the pool pump off.
- Clean the pump and skimmer basket.
- Put the components back in place.
Backwash the Filter

- Position the multiport valve of your filter to backwash mode.
- Turn on the pool pump for about 2 minutes.

- Turn on the pool pump
- Start moving the vacuum back and port from the shallow end of the swimming pool.

Finish the Job
When you are sure enough that you have vacuumed the pool thoroughly, you can remove the vacuum equipment from the pool.
- Clean the skimmer baskets.
- Open back the main drain.
- Repeat the backwash process to finish the step.
