How to Remove Chain Link Fence Tutorial

Cut the Wire
Since the construction of chain link fence is mainly about the post and wire, you will need to separate the wire from the posts at first.
Prepare these tools:
- Work gloves
- Wire cutters (you may need to use bolt cutters depending on the types of the wire that you use for the fence)
Follow these steps:
- Find the wire ties on the top rails and posts.
- Cut the wire starting from one corner of the top rail to the end corner, then start cutting the wire of the posts.
- Work this step horizontally along the fence and vertically along with the posts, so the wire panel can fall down easily.
Remove the Tension Bands and Bars
The bands of the chain link fence work to secure the tension bars to the end of the fence panel and the end posts. You have to remove them before removing the wire.

- Find the nuts on bands of the fence rail and unscrew them with a wrench.
- Unscrew the tension bolts as well.
- Remove the tensions bars by sliding them out of the fence.

- Shovel
- Sledgehammer (if necessary)
Follow these steps:
- Dig the area around each post until you can spot the cement or concrete base of each post of the fence.
- Let your friend rock the fence’s post as you dig the ground.
- Pull the post and the concrete base out of the ground. If you find that the concrete base is hard to pull out, you can use a sledgehammer to break it.
